The
finished deck must be at least two brick courses below damp course level.
A
ground level deck consists of a frame constructed of 150 x 47mm joist timbers
which can be fixed using galvanised nails and, if required, one or a combination
of metal angles, offcuts of 100 x 100mm timber and joist
hangers.

We
recommend that joists are fixed at 400mm centres for maximum support (fig 2).
The
area should be prepared as previously detailed. -
Position
concrete paving slabs (minimum 600 x 600 x 50mm) for added support and
stability.

With detailed planning and extra cutting
more adventurous designs can be created.
